Sentimental Punk

Since 2015 Sentimental Punk presents its research on avant-garde female filmmakers and invites sound artists to create live improvisation for the shown films. Sentimental Punk is a non-commercial research meeting. It is curated by Dafne Narvaez Berlfein with support of Willem van den Hoek, Santiago Doljanin, Christina Ertl-Shirley, Amirali Ghasemi, Lisa Simpson, Julia Brunner, Stefan Endewardt, Julia Herfurth & the Kotti Shop community.

From 2015 to 2020, Sentimental Punk took place as a research meeting inside Kotti-Shop, with the aim of sharing Dafne Narvaez Berlfein’s ongoing audiovisual research on structural and avant-garde films and sound art by women in a non-academic space. During the pandemic, Sentimental Punk evolved into a public space event where the research was brought into a hybrid format, showing fragments of the research material with experimental, improvised live soundtracks in the backyard of the Neues Kreuzberger Zentrum to expand access to these works and make them available to a public audience.
